Re: Ogbonna’s done his ACL
One of my favourite players, a real team man. Up until his injury last season I thought he was Hammer of the year. He’ll come back, Italian defenders tend to play until a ripe age. Moyes will get cover in January.

Re: Ogbonna’s done his ACL
Bad news. Im sure we will get another CB in in Jan, Moyes won't want to rely on Dawson/Diop the whole season. The German fella sounds interesting.

I’m gutted about this, for all the painfully obvious reasons.

Get well soon, Brother Oggy.

Re: Ogbonna’s done his ACL
Big loss. I suppose we’ll have to find a loan CB. Can’t see us buying, or relying on youth players.

Ludo, hopefully that lad is a Rob Newman pick. Apparently highly rated in Germany, Bayern were sniffing at one point.

Ah bollocks.
Really hope he gets back for next season.

Re: Ogbonna’s done his ACL
Great shame, the Og has been immense for us and hopefully will return as good as new.

Been reported, originating in the German press, that we are very interested in Niklas Stark of Hertha Berlin and that talks have already taken place... don't know much about him other than he's 26 and has 2 caps for Germany but looks like Moyes is on the case to get someone in.

Vaya Con Deos Angelo, you have been a brilliant defender for West Ham and we're going to miss you mate.

You've been a huge reason that we're MASSIVE.

Get well soon x

What a huge shame. he's been brilliant the last 18 months.

Hope he comes back stronger in 2022.

How vital was the Zouma signing now?!

Re: Ogbonna’s done his ACL
kylay - that Guardian article was published yesterday... he was having a scan today which will hopefully give a better indication of how bad it is, whether he will need surgery and how long he will be out.

As others have said, I don't know if the fact he played on and could walk freely is a good sign or not?

Re: Ogbonna’s done his ACL
Doesn't look good:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/nov/09/angelo-ogbonna-west-ham-could-miss-rest-of-season-injury

Scan showing it's worse than feared. Gutted for Oggy given how good he has been for us, and it's always a bit of a freak injury getting your toe caught in the turf. There's no guarding against something like that.

Sorry chaps. Allardyce wanted him when he played for Reading.

He looks a very capable player to be fair...Him and Jed Wallace are keeping the 'wall punching well above their weight

Re: Ogbonna’s done his ACL
Don't see an already slowing 33 year old making a comeback from this after 6 or 9 months out. Hope I'm wrong. Really like Oggy's contribution and has a great attitude.

Always thought he had Diop's tendency to switch off in his early years at West Ham but managed to lose that habit. We must hope Diop can do the same

Re: Ogbonna’s done his ACL
You have four center backs for situations like this - having said that it could be a year before he’s back. I suppose his prognosis is going to define whether we need to find a backup. We will have a lot of games to play when we win the quadruple though.

Re: Ogbonna’s done his ACL
i don't know if the fact that he walked off rather than be stretchered off is a good thing and means back sooner than later or not but hope so.

First serious Injury and we are half way thru November. Luckily we have decent cover

Manuel 2:42 Wed Nov 10
Re: Ogbonna’s done his ACL
I'm not convinced we will be in for a CB in Jan, maybe only if a real bargain can be had. Why have Dawson and Diop if you can't trust them to cover the Og? And when Og does come back we are then overloaded with 5 first team CB's.
